About the Organizer's Institute
The DART Organizers Institute is a paid, field school created to
recruit and train great community organizers, as well as, strengthen
DART’s mission to build power and win justice.
Graduates of the DART Organizers Institute have gone on to build
powerful congregation-based community organizations capable of
successfully challenging the economic, political and social systems that
create and perpetuate injustice. Whether it’s affordable housing,
accessible healthcare, public education reform or other issues facing
the community, the DART Organizers Institute is developing organizers
with the skills to win needed community change.
The training begins with an intensive 7-day classroom orientation
led by veteran organizers. Next, Organizer Trainees are placed for 4
months in the field with a mentor at a local community organization to
practice and develop their skills. DART will then work to place
successful graduates in fulltime, salaried positions within our
twenty-one affiliated organizations. DART also provides two years of
advanced training for our graduates to ensure ongoing support and
professional development.
The process is simple: learn to organize through the best
experiential training around, then go onto a fulltime career building
power to win justice.
